Former professional players, national team athletes, and elite-level coaches. Inside Performance has assembled the strongest coaching staff in British Columbia — coaches who've played the game at the highest levels and bring that experience to every session.
Brooks grew up in Vernon, BC, graduating from Kalamalka Secondary before being drafted in the 46th round by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1999. He chose to attend UBC instead, playing four seasons for the Thunderbirds and earning NAIA Region 1 Player of the Year in 2003. That year, the San Francisco Giants selected him in the 4th round.
Brooks spent seven seasons in the Giants organization, reaching as high as AAA. He represented Canada on the international stage multiple times — at the 2007 and 2009 Baseball World Cups (winning bronze in 2009), the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
After retiring from professional baseball, Brooks served as pitching coach at Douglas College (2009–2011) before founding Inside Performance. He holds a degree in Human Kinetics from UBC and a Bachelor of Education from SFU. Currently, he is a PE teacher and head coach of the West Vancouver Baseball Academy at Sentinel High School, head coach of the North Shore Twins in the PBL, and the driving force behind Inside Performance's expansion into data-driven athlete development.
Ivan came up through Highlands Little League and the PBL Coquitlam Reds before being named to the Canadian Junior National Team in 2008–09. He earned a college baseball scholarship to Iowa Western Community College, where in 2010 he was named NJCAA Division 1 Defensive Player of the Year, won the Rawlings Golden Glove Award, and was named both tournament MVP and Outstanding Defensive Player at the NJCAA World Series.
Ivan continued his collegiate career at Western Kentucky University before completing his teaching degree at the University of Georgia. He is currently a teacher in School District 45 and brings his elite defensive background and college-level playing experience to every session at Inside Performance.
A North Vancouver native, Lachlan grew up playing with North Van Central Little League before joining the North Shore Twins in the PBL. In 2013, at age 17, he was drafted in the 13th round by the Seattle Mariners. He was also a member of the Canadian Junior National Team in 2012–13, competing at the World Junior Championship in Taichung, Taiwan.
Lachlan spent three seasons in the Mariners' rookie ball system before continuing his professional career with the Capitales de Québec in the Can-Am and Frontier Leagues. Originally a utility player, he made the transition to full-time pitcher — a perspective shift that gives him a rare dual understanding of both sides of the game.
Ken brings over two decades of elite coaching experience across British Columbia. A Baseball Canada Level III certified coach and Level I/II coach clinician, he has coached at virtually every competitive level in the province — including BC Games (1991, 1994), Western Canada Games (1999 Gold, 2003, 2011), and Canada Games (1989, 2003, 2011 Gold).
He served as an instructor at the Okanagan Major League Baseball Camp in Oliver, BC for twelve years and has been involved with women's baseball in BC since 2004, coaching the provincial women's team to gold in 2015 and 2016. Ken is a retired high school teacher, currently coaching with the West Vancouver Baseball Academy at Sentinel High School. His instruction is grounded in deep game knowledge and a communication style built for developing athletes at every level.
